A spot of luck

I haven't blogged for ages! I've really wanted to, but literally haven't had the time. Work has been crazy and then I went to New York for my birthday, so it's been non-stop. Anyway, I'm here now and shall vow to be more regular in my blogging.

Today I want to tell you about some luck I had recently; I won my first ever blog giveaway! Sophie from sophiejanethorne.blogspot.co.uk ran a giveaway to win a Wet n Wild nail polish in red - and lucky old me won.

Sophie is so lovely that she actually included a couple of extra items for me to apologise because she had a slight postal delay. So not only did I get the Wet n Wild polish, but also a Maybelline one and a strawberry flavoured Lypsyl.

As I got these items a month or so ago now, I have had time to fully try them out and review them.

Wet n Wild Wild Shine nail colour
Love the colour, it is a really bright red with a hint of pink in a certian light and as it's a gel polish it looks great on. It's really shiny, especially with a top coat on. It lasted well, but not quite as well as the Maybelline.

Lypsyl Strawberry Polka-dot
Tastes great and contains SPF. It claims to be tinted, but I couldn't notice much, maybe a slight pale pink, but not really. The downside to this is that it is quite a hard textured balm, you really need to rub it on. It worked best when I had it in my pocket and then used it as the heat had softened it.

Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days gel nail colour
This is amazing! The red was probably a shade darker than I'd normally go for as I have quite fair skin, but it looked great and lasts soooo well. In fact I put this nail varnish on for my 5 day holiday to New York and it last the whole trip. So not quite 7 days, but I don't think I had time to put a top coat on.

I will definitely buy more of these Maybelline 7 day polishes.

To finish, thank you very much Sophie for the gifts, it's so generous of you to run these giveaways. Everyone else head over to Sophie's blog for beauty reviews, recipes, fashion and more.

Vaseline Pink Bubbly Limited Edition

My boyfriend knows me so well, he got me a pot of the limited edition Vaseline Pink Bubbly as a little "stocking filler" type birthday present.

It's in a smart looking baby pink and black tin with gold lettering and the actual Vaseline itself is rose coloured. It's tastes delish!

Stock up now, before there are none left!

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint

 Rimmel 1000 Kisses: ★★★★

Recently I won a competition to be a beauty panelist for the "Beauty at Tesco" Facebook page. Tesco have sent me four lip products and my job is to review them. Here is the first product I tried - Rimmel's 1000 Kisses in 100 Endless Blossom.

Rimmel 1000 Kisses 100 Endless Blossom, lip, tint, balm, gloss

One end of the product contains the tint. It is like a felt tip and feels like you are drawing on your lips with a colouring pen when you apply it. The other end is a waxy balm to coat over the top of the tint that provides a glossy shine.

When I first applied the product my initial concern was that the product comes out darker than it appears on the packaging. However, after a couple of wears the colour has really grown on me, although I think if I were to incorporate it in to my daily look I'd need to come away from the smokey brown eyes that I normally wear. I think the same rule applies with makeup and it does clothes, you know the one about either legs or cleavage but not both? Best to focus on either lips or eyes but not both.

You can wear just the tint, or you can apply the balm to make it glossy. The tint on its own lasts really well, however, when you apply the balm it makes the colour easier to rub off and I doubt it would last for 1000 kisses!

Overall the product is enjoyable to use, I really like the felt tip which gives a good application and even coverage and the fact that the tint tastes subtly fruity. With the balm on too, your lips feel pleasantly moisturised. The only thing to improve for me would be to make the balm not soak the colour up so that it could transfer on to your man should you give him 1000 kisses.

I think I would buy this product, but maybe the nude shade would be better suited to my colouring and go better with the colours I normally wear.
