Perfect red lips for £2!

Any regular readers of my blog will know that I really rate MUA from Superdrug, it's just such a reasonable price that you end up trying out looks that you might not normally dare to as you don't want to waste your money.

Red lips have made a major comeback in the last year or so since people like Rita Ora have been seen sporting them. I have only just started trying to up my lipstick game since becoming a blogger and reading so many other blogs about these amazing lip colours I should be trying, so I must admit I was a little bit scared to go for red. However, I had a hen do to go to and an oxblood red dress, so it was my perfect excuse to try it.

I didn't want to spend loads on a red lippy in case I hated it and ended up never using it, so where better to start than good old MUA? I bought their red lipstick in shade 13 and hurried home to try it out.

It wasn't working. I liked the colour, but the edges were bleeding on to my skin, so it looked a bit cheap and tacky. I tried applying it with a lipstick brush which helped, but it still wasn't perfect.

So back to MUA I went in search of a lip liner to use to help get those edges nice and neat.

This worked perfectly, and with a bit of blotting and the finger trick I even managed to keep it off my teeth. The colour on the photos below don't do it justice, it's a really nice bright red colour, quite a close dupe to Mac's Lady Danger so I've read. The swatches show it slightly better.

So if you want a perfect red pout for the grand total of £2, get yourselves down to Superdrug. Or even better, on the date of writing this post, they are offering free delivery until the weekend.

New MUA nail varnish review

MUA nail varnish:

Since discovering MUA, my makeup collection has been able to grow wildly without me spending wildly. On my courtesy look through the makeup stands in Superdrug yesterday I discovered they had a new nail varnish range out. Cute little bottles with the MUA letters shaped on the glass and a lovely range of bright colours ready for the bright weather (we can but hope), and they only cost £1!

I picked up a lovely bright pink with a hint of orange called Bright Coral and a white called All Nude. Obviously too excited to try one at a time, I tried them together, here are the results.

The colours and great, and so far so good on the chip-free staying power. The brush was a good size and got a nice even coverage of the nail. They were also quite quick to dry. The only downside is that they are quite thin and require 3 coats to ensure that they are opaque. I did 3 coats on the white and only 2 on the coral and I'm regretting that now.

Overall, I'm really happy with them and for £1, I can't really fault them at all, so for that reason I am giving them 5 stars!

The Graze Craze - free voucher code

Graze boxes have been around for a couple of years now. For those that don't know it's like a food version of a Glossybox. You sign up to receive either fortnightly or weekly boxes at £3.89 each including P&P and the box comes through your door with 4 snack boxes inside.

The food you get given is based on preferences you put into the website. You can give foods a rating of either "bin, try, like or love" and this will affect how often you get those foods in your box. Ratings can be updated as often as you like.

I thought I'd give it a go as I had a voucher for a free box and I was really impressed with my selection, so I'm going to keep it up for a little while longer and see how it goes.

In terms of feedback for Graze, I do wish there was 5 foods in each box rather than 4, as this would give me a breaktime snack for each day of the week at work. Also, it would be good if there was other options than just weekly and fortnightly. But overall, I really like it.

If you would like to give it a go, have a free box on me, using the voucher code: W6H7RT1D

Dressing table area and make up storage UPDATE

I am now the proud owner of the Ikea Alex 9 Drawers!

I know every girl and her dog owns this so it's far from a unique set up, but I loved the look of it in so many Youtube videos and it really is the ideal size.

It costs £85 from Ikea but I managed to pick up a second hand one from eBay for £35. It was in excellent condition just needed a bit of Cif to get it shiny white again.

I've put it next to my dressing table and it is storing my beauty products such as toner, moisturiser, nail varnish remover, fake tan etc, a wide range of hair products and my hair tools. I'm also a bit OCD, so I've got a 'stock' drawer of some spare products for when others run out.

I know the blue walls don't look great, we only moved a month ago so have not got to decorating this room yet. The plan is duck egg blue, white and a bit of silver/grey.

Ciaté nail polish free with Marie Claire

This month's Marie Claire comes with a free Ciaté nail polish (and a Jergens moisturiser).

There are two great colours available; a pastel peachy pink called Pocket Money and a light shimmery gold called Sand Dune.

These are well worth the £3.80 you pay for the magazine seeing as Ciaté polishes retail at £9.

The colours are a great addition to my collection and perfect for Spring. They complement each other nicely too.

Nail Polish Stand

Greetings from my new house! It's been a very busy and stressful couple of weeks, but I'm absolutely loving having a house. (Lots of home decor posts to follow).

The first thing that I decided to buy for myself in the new house is a nail polish stand. I've been looking at a few on eBay for a while but didn't want to buy before the move. I ended up ordering one from Amazon for £7.99.

I've got the muji acrylic draws already so wanted to go with the clear acrylic look to match. It fits approximately 30 bottles on it and is nice and sturdy. I would definitely recommend.
