WUNDERful brows

If you use Facebook, the chances are you have seen many of the Wunderbrow video adverts. I'm never sure what to think of Facebook adverts, but then my trusted beauty guru Hollie Wakeham also endorsed the product on her YouTube channel so I was sold.

It took me a while before ordering to decide between blonde and brunette. I spent a lot of time trawling through Instagram posts and browsing Google images before I eventually settled for brunette which in the end turned out to be the right choice for me.

I purchased mine directly from the WUNDER2 website. You can get it in Boots for the same price, but the website were offering a money back guarantee if you didn't like the product so that's why I went with them. The delivery wasn't particularly fast. They say about 5 working days; I ordered mine Tuesday evening, and got it the following Thursday. It also wasn't packaged very well (just in a plastic bag) so my box was slightly crushed. This didn't affect the product though.

So, the product, is it any good I'm sure you're wondering? Well, yes! I really really like it.

I've been applying it with a Spectrum A17 brow brush rather than the built in brush as I found that was too thick to allow much precision. Then I use the mascara style brush it came with to sweep over and soften the product out.

My photos don't really do it justice; I find it looks much sharper and neater than my usual brow pencil and it lasts the whole day without fading. There are claims that it will last for 3 days, but I certainly haven't found this to be the case. As soon as I take my makeup off and wash my face, Wunderbrow comes off with it. However, this isn't really a problem for me as I don't need it to stay on for 3 days. Again comparing it to my usual brow pencil, I do find it takes more time and accuracy to apply, but the results are definitely worth it.

I will be buying this again for years to come (although next time I'll probably order from Boots to get quicker delivery and Advantage card points :)).

Week 36 manicure challenge feat. £1 gel nails

Last week I showed you the Gel Perfect polish I got from Poundworld, now this week I can tell you my thoughts.

I tried the shade orchid. The first disappointment was that it is a major faff to apply. You have to put a layer of the activator, gel, activator, gel then activator again. In between that you are meant to clean the gel brush.

However, once applied I liked the look of it. It was nice and thick, like proper gel nails.

BUT... It didn't last 24 hours before chipping. My nails are quite weak and bendy. So as soon as I caught my nail and it bended, the gel started to chip off. It was such a shame as they did look so good when freshly done.

For someone with strong nails this might be the bargain of the century. But for me, I don't think it's going to work out. :(

Bargain gel nail polish

Just picked up these "Gel Perfect" 5 minute manicure polishes from Poundworld! Bargain or what?!

I got orchid and purple luxe. Watch this space to find out if they are any good or not. The packaging says no UV lamp needed and that it sets rock solid in 5 minutes. We shall see...

Making high heels comfortable - Insolia vs. Airplus Save My Soles

Insolia: ★★★★★
Airplus Save my Soles: ★★★

I love a pair of high heels as much as the next women. I don't know if it's just me, but have you noticed that in the past year or so all of the decent high heels are higher than ever?!

A couple of months ago I bought a gorgeous pair of shoes from Miss Selfridge to wear to a wedding. I had to have this pair as not only were they sooo nice but they were the perfect colour to go with my dress. The heels on them were ridiculously high though. I've used Scholl Party Feet before numerous times and have never felt that they make any noticeable difference. So I took to the Internet to try and find a way to help my poor feet stand this height (haha) for the duration of the wedding. After all, other girls seem to manage, so why can't I? What is their secret?!

The first product I came across was "Insolia". They are an insert that claim to transfer your weight from the ball of your foot to the heel making you able to wear your high heels for 3 times longer. They are not full length inserts, they only go about half the length of your shoe and you actually stick them on the heel end rather than the front. Also another point to note is that it's not a one size fits all, you need to buy them for your shoes size.

I put my shoes on at around mid-day and the inserts must have worked as I managed to wear them until about 8pm when I switched to my flat sandals after spending a while on the dance floor.I was pretty happy with that result. However, I did still have sore feet the next day, so thought I'd try something different for my next pair of heels.

Another new pair of heels arrived in my life that I had to have, again rather high! This time I ordered Airplus Save My Soles. These are one size fits all and they are an insert that goes the length of your shoe. They claim to provide "extra cushioning at heel and ball-of-foot for targeted relief".

Airplus Save My Soles, shoe, heel, high heels, insert, gel, cushion

These do make your shoes feel more comfortable on first impressions. However, due to the fact that they go the full length of your shoe I found that they made my court shoes really tight around the toe end and ended up causing slight blisters. I certainly wouldn't have been able to wear my shoes all day at a wedding using these. Bare in mind, these were new court shoes, so probably slightly tight anyway, so I'll wear them in a bit more and then maybe update the rating if I change my opinion on them at all.

For me the winner is Insolia!
